Ferndale High’s football squad can clinch a playoff berth when the Eagles play Berkley High at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Hurley Field in Berkley.

Ferndale is currently 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division.

Teams automatically qualify for the playoffs with six victories.

With an overall record of 2-5 (1-4 OAA Blue), the Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention this season.

Berkley and Ferndale have been going in different directions in recent weeks.

The Eagles have won four consecutive games, while Berkley has lost each of its last four contests.

Over the course of the last four games, Ferndale has averaged over 41 points per game, while giving up just eight per contest.

In their last four games, the Bears have been outscored 154-27.

Berkley has won the last eight games played between the programs, including a 34-20 victory when the teams last met in 2016.

A win would give Ferndale its third consecutive playoff berth.
