ROSEVILLE — On its way to a second straight Macomb Area Conference Silver Division championship and a 14-2-2 regular season mark, the Roseville High girls soccer team allowed a school-record low 12 goals.

The backbone of that strong defense was junior goalkeeper Lauren Orler. Her impact on the Panthers has earned her the MAC Silver MVP award.

Roseville went 12-1-1 in MAC Silver play and shared the division title with St. Clair Shores South Lake.

“This means a lot to me, because I work hard to earn awards like these,” Orler said. “I think what makes me a good goalkeeper is that I train all the time, and I play travel soccer year round.”

Roseville coach Brad VandeVorde called Orler a big part of the team’s success. He said Orler works very hard and it shows on the field.

VandeVorde added that Orler loves her teammates and is truly someone they can rely on.

“(Orler) is one of the best goalies to come through Roseville,” VandeVorde said. “We’re blessed to have her for another year.”

Orler credits VandeVorde for her and the team’s growth. She said she is ready for next season.

“I want to see some huge growth in terms of my own personal development as a player, and I want us to get more big wins and break more records,” Orler said. “Coach VandeVorde is a big part of all of that. He’s had a huge impact on all of us. By the end of every season, we’re a family.”
