Like many other leagues across Michigan, the Oakland Activities Association recently released its list honoring the top girls basketball players from the season.

The OAA was especially contentious this year as two of the three divisions saw co-champions atop the leaderboards at the end of the season.

Southfield A&T and West Bloomfield High split the OAA Red Division title with 11-1 records while Royal Oak High’s Brian Sopata and Clarkston High’s John Weyer were named the coaches of the year.

Auburn Hills Avondale took sole possession of the OAA White crown with an 11-1 record and Rochester Adams’ Shay Lewis was named coach of the year. In the OAA Blue Rochester High and Berkley High shared the title as both teams finished with 10-2 league records. Rochester’s Bill Thurston took home coach of the year honors in his first season leading the Falcons varsity program.
