Local boys soccer squads set sights on postseason

WARREN/CENTER LINE — Boys soccer teams from across the state are about to embark on the second season.

The playoffs begin Oct. 9 at various sites, with district play. The district playoff round is set for Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 14-19. Regionals take place Oct. 22-26.

The state semifinals will be contested Oct. 30. The Divisions 1-4 state title games will be played Nov. 2 at Comstock Park High and Novi High.

Division 1
Warren Mott, playing in a district hosted by Berkley High, opens the playoffs with a quarterfinal matchup against Sterling Heights Stevenson, set for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Mott. The survivor gets Berkley High in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Oct. 15. The other side of the Berkley bracket comprises Troy High, Troy Athens, Royal Oak High and Utica Ford II. The district final in the Berkley pod is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 17.

Warren Cousino will host a district and starts the postseason with a quarterfinal game against Fraser High at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at home. The winner meets either St. Clair Shores Lake Shore or St. Clair Shores Lakeview in a district semi at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at home. Warren De La Salle received a bye through the district quarters and gets either Sterling Heights High or Roseville High in a semi at 5 p.m. Oct. 10 at Cousino. The district final is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 18.


Division 2
Warren Woods Tower, Warren Fitzgerald and Center Line High will all play in a district hosted by Madison Heights Lamphere.

The Titans and Panthers face off in a quarterfinal set for 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at Tower. The winner advances to face either Hazel Park High or St. Clair Shores South Lake in a semi at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Lamphere.

Fitzgerald squares off with Eastpointe High in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at home. The survivor gets Lamphere in a semi at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Lamphere.

The district final kicks off at 6 p.m. Oct. 16.
