Lake Shore, Lakeview baseball teams square off to open postseason

Winner advances to May 30 district semifinals

ST. CLAIR SHORES — City rivals will play with the chance to advance in the 2015 postseason when the St. Clair Shores Lake Shore and St. Clair Shores Lakeview baseball teams meet in a Division 1 predistrict set for 4:30 p.m. May 26 at Kyte Monroe Memorial Field in St. Clair Shores.

The winner advances to meet East Detroit High (0-13) in a D-1 district semifinal slated for 10 a.m. May 30 at Grosse Pointe North. The other side of the bracket features a matchup between Roseville High (14-3) and Grosse Pointe North (26-11), set for noon May 30 at North. The district final is scheduled for 2 p.m. May 30 at North. The winner of the district title advances to a D-1 regional semifinal set for 10 a.m. June 6 at Grosse Pointe North.

Lake Shore (10-10) and Lakeview (15-17) enter the postseason having played four times already this season, including two meetings as Macomb Area Conference Gold Division foes. Lake Shore has taken three of those matchups by a total of five runs. Lake Shore took the latest meeting by a score of 8-5 in a May 22 matchup.
