FRASER — Fraser High's baseball team won what coach Dave Kuppe thought was the program's first division title since 1997 with a 10-7 victory against Warren Woods Tower May 14 at Fraser.

Fraser entered the game with a one game lead over Tower in the Macomb Area Conference Gold Division standings, and with the victory, avoided having to share a title with the Titans.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet," Kuppe said. "We had to battle so hard. I was real proud of our kids for stepping up when the championship was on the line."

Tower held a 2-0 advantage in the game until Fraser scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead and help propel the Ramblers to a division championship.

Fraser added four more runs in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 10-2.

Although Tower scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to trim Fraser's lead to 10-7, the Ramblers were able to close the game out in the seventh.

Zach Zombo, Kyle Grey, Mike Bentley and Jason Querro all batted in runs for Fraser, with Andrew Capone, Ryan Feuquay and Keegan Sikorski driving in runs for Tower.

Tower is scheduled to play three separate games May 16. The Titans play Waterford Mott at 9:30 a.m. at Warren Mott, against St. Clair at noon at Sterling Heights, and against Sterling Heights at 2:30 p.m. at Sterling Heights.

Fraser plays at 4:30 p.m. May 18 in a road game against Utica Eisenhower.
