Eisenhower, Utica High volleyball exit playoffs in district round

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — The volleyball season has come to an end for both Utica High and Utica Eisenhower in the district round of the state playoffs. The Chieftains ended the season at 27-16-4 overall and 6-4 in the Macomb Area Conference White Division. The Eagles finished at 28-13-1 overall and 8-2 in the MAC Red.

Utica started its playoff run with a win over Clinton Township Chippewa Valley in straight sets Nov. 4 at Utica Ford II. In the district semifinal, Utica took on Macomb Dakota of the MAC Red. The match went to a fifth set that went the way of the Cougars Nov. 6.

The Eagles finished the season as the runner-up in the MAC Red, one match back of New Baltimore Anchor Bay. The Eagles were swept in a district opener Nov. 4 against Rochester Hills Stoney Creek at Rochester High.
