Boys hoops playoffs kick into gear

ORCHARD LAKE/WALLED LAKE — The boys basketball postseason is in full swing.

Locally, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s took on North Farmington in a Class A district final March 11, after press time. The winner heads to the West Bloomfield High regional.

St. Mary’s earned a shot at the district title after beating West Bloomfield 75-72 in double overtime March 9 at home.

Walled Lake Central also played for a district title after press time, taking on White Lake Lakeland March 11 at home. The Vikings qualified after beating Walled Lake Western 57-35 March 9 in a Class A district semifinal. The squads split the regular-season series and both drew first-round byes in the district.

The winner of Central and Lakeland also heads to the West Bloomfield regional.

Walled Lake Northern’s season came to a close, falling to Lakeland 39-32 in the district semifinal. The Knights beat Milford High 54-34 in the district opener March 7.
