Boys basketball playoffs tip soon

METRO DETROIT — Boys basketball teams across the state, no matter their regular-season performance, will have a chance at postseason success when the state playoffs begins Feb. 25.

The district round runs Feb. 25 through March 1 at various sites. The state semifinals and finals take place March 14-16 at Michigan State University. The most recent champ from the C & G Sports coverage area is Southfield Christian, which won a Class D title in 2018. The Eagles have won four championships since the start of the 2012 season.

Following is a detailed look at each district featuring teams inside the coverage area. Games will be played at the host site unless otherwise noted. A change has been made this year, which sees teams play in Divisions 1-4 instead of Classes A-D.

 

Division 1
At Lake Orion High
Rochester Adams opens against Clarkston High in a district quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Lake Orion in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The other half of the bracket features Romeo High, Oxford High and Waterford Kettering.

The district final is set for 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At White Lake Lakeland
Walled Lake Northern faces off against Lakeland in a quarterfinal slated for 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The survivor meets Walled Lake Central at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Walled Lake Western and Milford High square off in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final takes place at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At Bloomfield Hills High
West Bloomfield High and Auburn Hills Avondale open in a quarterfinal set for 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner takes on host Bloomfield Hills at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Waterford Mott meet in a semifinal set for 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At Novi High
Both North Farmington and Farmington High received byes through the quarterfinals.

North Farmington will open against either Livonia Stevenson or Northville High at 5 p.m. Feb. 27. Farmington squares off against the winner of a Novi Detroit Catholic Central and Novi matchup at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final tips at 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At Grosse Pointe North
Grosse Pointe South and Eastpointe High open in a semifinal set for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Grosse Pointe North, which also received a bye through the quarterfinals, faces either Detroit East English Village Academy or Hamtramck High in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final takes place at 6:30 p.m. March 1.

 

At Birmingham Groves
Birmingham Groves and Birmingham Brother Rice meet in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner meets Birmingham Seaholm in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The other side of the bracket sees Berkley High and Royal Oak High meeting in a semi at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At Detroit Mumford
Southfield A&T opens against Redford Union in a quarterfinal set for 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner takes on Detroit Mumford at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The other side of the bracket sees U of D Jesuit meeting Oak Park High at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At Warren Woods Tower
Warren Woods Tower and Warren Mott face off in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Warren Cousino in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Warren De La Salle and Warren Fitzgerald meet in a semi at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At Utica Ford II
Clinton Township Chippewa Valley and Troy Athens meet in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner faces Sterling Heights High in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Ford and Sterling Heights Stevenson face off in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final takes place at 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At Macomb L’Anse Creuse North
L’Anse Creuse North and New Baltimore Anchor Bay square off in a quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The survivor gets Port Huron High in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The other half of the bracket sees Macomb Dakota and Port Huron Northern battling in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final is slated for 6:30 p.m. March 1.

 

At Utica High
Utica Eisenhower meets Rochester High in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Troy High in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Utica faces Rochester Hills Stoney Creek in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final takes place at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At St. Clair Shores Lake Shore
Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse and Roseville High battle in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets host Lake Shore in a semifinal at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 27. St. Clair Shores Lakeview and Fraser High meet in a semi at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final tips at 7 p.m. March 1.

 

Division 2
At Warren Lincoln
Ferndale High and Madison Heights Lamphere square off in a quarterfinal set for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner meets Center Line High in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

On the other side of the bracket, Ferndale University and Hazel Park High face off in the quarters at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The survivor meets Lincoln at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final is set for 5:30 p.m. March 1.

 

At Detroit Henry Ford
Southfield Bradford meets Henry Ford in the quarters at 5 p.m. Feb. 25.

The winner meets Detroit CMA in a semi at 5 p.m. Feb. 27. The other half of the bracket sees Livonia Clarenceville and Detroit Old Redford Academy facing off in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner meets Detroit Cornerstone at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final is slated for 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At Harper Woods High
St. Clair Shores South Lake and Detroit Osborn meet in a quarterfinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Harper Woods in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy received a bye through the quarterfinals and gets either Detroit Denby or Detroit Frontier International in a semi at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final tips at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

At New Haven High
Macomb Lutheran North gets New Haven in a quarterfinal at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Algonac High in a semifinal at a time to be determined on Feb. 27. The other half of the bracket includes St. Clair High, Richmond High and Marine City High.

The district final is slated for 6:15 p.m. March 1.

 

At Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Clawson High and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood meet in a quarterfinal set for 7 p.m. Feb. 25, with the winner playing host Country Day in a semifinal set for 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

On the other side of the bracket, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep meets Pontiac High in the quarters at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner meets Farmington Hills Harrison in the semis at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 1.

 

Division 3
At Madison Heights Bishop Foley
Warren Michigan Collegiate meets Detroit Pershing in a quarterfinal set for 6 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.

Madison Heights Madison and Royal Oak Shrine meet in a quarterfinal at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25, with the winner advancing to face host Bishop Foley at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final is set for 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At Clinton Township Clintondale
Mount Clemens High plays Pontiac Arts & Technology Academy in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner meets Pontiac Academy for Excellence in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Clintondale and Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest will meet in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 after both teams received a bye through the quarterfinals.

The district final tips at 6:30 p.m. March 1.

 

Division 4
At Bloomfield Hills Roeper
Southfield Christian and Novi Christian Academy meet in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Roeper and West Bloomfield Frankel Jewish Academy battle in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.

 

At Clarkston Everest Collegiate
Auburn Hills Christian and the Burton St. Thomas More Academy meet in a quarterfinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The winner gets Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27. On the other side of the bracket, Auburn Hills Oakland Christian gets the winner of Everest Collegiate and Dryden High in a semi at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The district final is set for 7 p.m. March 1.

 

At Marine City Cardinal Mooney
Sterling Heights Parkway Christian received a bye through the quarterfinals and will face either Michigan Math & Science Academy or Cardinal Mooney in a semifinal set for 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The other half of the bracket features Center Line Macomb Christian and Chesterfield Austin Catholic facing off in a semi at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

The final is 7 p.m. Feb. 28.
