Troy Athens and Troy High football are set to renew their rivalry at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Athens.

After winning just one game last season, Athens (1-0) got off to a good start this year, coming away with a 33-6 victory in its season opener against Detroit Old Redford Aug. 29 at home.

After going 2-7 last year, Troy’s start to this season didn’t go as well, as the Colts (0-1) lost to Auburn Hills Avondale 22-0 in an away game Aug. 30.

Although Troy has won 28 of the 46 games played between the programs, Athens won last year’s version of the rivalry 31-0, giving the Red Hawks their lone victory of the season.

Last season, the Colts scored 20 or more points just three times, while giving up 30 or more points five times.

As for the Red Hawks, they gave up 35 or more points five times last season, and scored 20 or more just twice.
