It’s always tough to replace a four-year starter in any sport, much less four of them.

But Roseville High girls soccer coach Ron Baller isn’t overly worried about his Panthers program, as he knows what, or more specifically who, is waiting in the wings.

The Panthers have plenty of young talent anxious to carry on the legacy left by the graduated seniors. And that’s got Baller excited about the future at Roseville.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — One of Jessica Francek’s first big decisions as the new head coach of the Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse girls soccer team was harder than it is for many coaches.

But it’s a problem many coaches would gladly have.

“I actually had a hard time choosing captains because I have so many girls that are good role models and good leaders and good players,” Francek said.

MADISON HEIGHTS — The last time fans saw the Madison Heights Bishop Foley girls soccer squad it was a shadow of the team that began the 2010 season.

The Ventures limped into last year’s state tournament with injuries to key players, including junior Ali Mancini, senior Cara Stempky and senior Ashley Adomatis.

Still, the Ventures found the tenacity to make a run to the state semifinal — their third straight final four — before falling 2-0 to eventual Division 4 state champion Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes.

BERKLEY — Coming off one of the best campaigns for Berkely High girls soccer, which saw the squad finish the 2010 season 11-6-5 and win the school’s first girls soccer district championship, coach Cliff Brandmier is concerned about this year’s squad finding its own personality, especially after graduating 10 seniors.
