Offensive keys

The Bulldogs had a disappointing 2-7 campaign in 2017 following an 8-3 playoff season in 2016.

This season, they will be welcoming new coach Daishawn Franklin, who just took the job last month.

With so little time to install his systems and get to know his players, Franklin knows execution is paramount on offense.

“We need to execute, but get the ball in the hands of our athletes on offense,” said Franklin.

Franklin wants to have the offense be based more on a running attack, with the passing game benefiting from the success of the run game.

“We need to have a good run game for us to be successful,” said Franklin.

Defensive keys

Depth could be a key for the team, according to Franklin, on both sides of the ball.

Franklin said that a number of factors, including him just accepting the job one month ago, have left the Bulldogs with a lack of depth this season.

However, Franklin has been impressed with what he has seen from his team so far.

“We’re not a big defense, but we’re quick and playing fast,” said Franklin. “We want to be a turnover-focused defense.”

Coach’s outlook

“This team is a scrappy team,” said Franklin. “We want to be competitive; we want to be hardworking and go out there and compete and play with our opponents.”
