GROSSE POINTES — The wrestling season may not have ended the way Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South wanted, but there are still positives to take away from a strong season. North and South battled in the opening round of a Division 1 team district Feb. 7 at South. Ultimately, South was able to squeak out a 39-37 victory over the Norsemen.

EASTPOINTE — If you asked Eastpointe High boys basketball coach Nate Minnoy how his team was doing two weeks ago, he would’ve said it was underachieving. That is no longer the case, as at press time, the Shamrocks were 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division. Those 10 wins are more than the previous three seasons combined, and the most since 2010-11.

To qualify for the state meet, a team must place third or higher in its regional. United — made up of Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South athletes — hasn’t made the state meet since 2016 and has finished fourth in its regional each of the last two seasons.
