BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP/PONTIAC — St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and Trinity Health recently partnered with Bloomfield Township to provide a unique pilot program that doctors say takes physician care beyond the hospital and into the community.

The program will equip more than 50 Bloomfield Township Fire Department emergency personnel with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-secure computer tablets that will offer audio/visual physician presence.

A Bloomfield Township police officer was stopped on the left shoulder of northbound I-75, near Adams Road, with the car’s emergency lights on Feb. 14.

The officer was out of his vehicle assisting a motorist who had slid off the roadway into the median. Another vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old, lost control and first struck the officer’s patrol car.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Just in time for Punxsutawney Phil to warn us of a looming six more weeks of winter, the third largest snowfall in Detroit’s history slammed the metropolitan area Feb. 2.

Meteorologist Matt Mosteiko, with the National Weather Service in White Lake, said Michigan’s climate records date back to the 1880s, and this storm dumped anywhere from 9.2 inches in Flint to 16.7 inches at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — The community is invited to the Bloomfield Township Public Library at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 to share in the storytelling of Amy Elliott Bragg. The program is a presentation of the Bloomfield Historical Society, in conjunction with the library.

As an author and historian, Bragg, of Ferndale, is also the co-founder of the Detroit Drunken Historical Society and president of Preservation Detroit.

It was Bragg’s love of local history, as well as libations, that led to the creation of the Detroit Drunken Historical Society nearly three years ago.

At 6 a.m. Jan. 26, the Bloomfield Township Police and Fire departments responded to a report of a crash involving a freightliner tractor-trailer and two other vehicles.

Members of the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team assisted with the on-scene investigation.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — At 6 a.m. Jan. 26, the Bloomfield Township Police and Fire Departments responded to the report of a crash involving a freightliner tractor-trailer and two other vehicles.

Members of the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team assisted with the on-scene investigation.

The initial investigation indicated that all vehicles were traveling southbound through the intersection on a green signal when the driver of a 2003 Honda collided with the side of the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer driver stopped to offer assistance.
