ROSEVILLE — The Roseville Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred March 28 on Gratiot Avenue.

The incident took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. between Utica Road and Martin Road.

“A Chrysler 300, traveling at an extremely high rate of speed in a 35 mph construction zone, struck a Toyota traveling in the right lane of southbound Gratiot,” Lt. Stephen Starr, of the Roseville police, explained in an email. “Due to the high speed, the Chrysler spun and rolled out of control, striking a Ford another 300 feet down the road. The Chrysler driver was deceased on scene. The occupants of the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in this crash.”

Officers confirmed that the driver of the Chrysler 300, a 24-year-old Roseville woman, died in the crash and that the other injured motorists are expected to fully recover.

One of the vehicles that was struck careened into a nearby business, which caused structural damage but no injuries, according to police. The stretch of southbound Gratiot Avenue between Utica Road and Martin Road was closed for several hours while the investigation into the crash began. Starr said that the investigation is ongoing.
