CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Clinton Township Police are seeking a warrant for arrest after a woman allegedly shot and killed her domestic partner.

Clinton Township Police Capt. Richard Maierle said the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Jan. 19, at an apartment complex on South Grange Street. It is located north of Metropolitan Parkway and east of Harper Avenue.

Maierle said some type of “domestic” argument occurred between the 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man. Police were called and arrived on scene to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect was found and taken into custody. She is currently being held at the Clinton Township Police Department.

There were no reported witnesses at the scene.

Maierle said the suspect made a statement, which police are not disclosing to the public at this time.

Both individuals had licenses to carry firearms, he added.

On Jan. 21, police said an autopsy was being performed by the Macomb County Medical Examiner on the victim. They also stated they would present a warrant request to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office on Jan. 22 for the arrest of the suspect.

No other information on the suspect or the victim will be released until a warrant is issued. Check back for more details when they become available.
