MACOMB TOWNSHIP — A woman has been arrested after stealing a vehicle, fleeing police, and crashing into two other vehicles.

At 4:10 p.m. Sept. 4, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a business near North Avenue and 21 Mile Road in Macomb Township on the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told police he was making a delivery to the business and had left his vehicle, a white Ford truck, running and unlocked.

The man saw a woman, Stephanie Martin, get into the vehicle and drive away with the truck.

Deputies searched the area and located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 94. A pursuit began and resulted in a traffic crash at Harper Avenue and Quinn Road in Clinton Township, where Martin crashed into two other vehicles.

Martin, 30, of Mt. Clemens, was taken into custody and remains at the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the two vehicles she crashed into were taken to the hospital, with one released and the other continuing to receive treatment for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has issued a four-count warrant for the suspect — one count of unlawfully driving away, a five-year felony; one count of third-degree fleeing a police officer, a five-year felony; one count of resisting and obstructing an officer, a two-year felony; and one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury, a five-year felony.

Martin was arraigned by the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township on Sept. 7. She was arraigned at the hospital, where she is still receiving treatment, and was given a $25,000 bond.

Martin is scheduled to return to court at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 18 for a probable cause conference. The Macomb Auto Theft detectives continue to investigate the incident.
