Unidentified man operating scooter killed in crash

Police are seeking witnesses to a crash that took the life of a man operating a scooter on John R Road, near Isabell Drive, north of Maple Road, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 after he was hit by a 2005 Ford Taurus. 

According to the police report, Alliance Mobile Health transported the scooter operator from the scene to Beaumont Hospital, Troy, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after. 

Police said the scooter operator was crossing improperly and not within a crosswalk at the time of the crash. He had no identification and has not yet been identified. 

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. 

John R Road was closed for about two and a half hours while police investigated. 

Further details will be released, when available, as the investigation continues.
