CENTER LINE — Two people were found with gunshot wounds Sept. 22 after an emergency call sent Center Line public safety officers to a home on Edward Avenue, west of Van Dyke Avenue.

Center Line Public Safety Department Executive Lt. Steven Hilla said the investigation remained ongoing at press time. The late afternoon shooting left a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman wounded. Hilla said both live at the address on Edward.

“We received a 911 call from a female Center Line resident,” Hilla said. “She called from the 7300 block of Edward stating that the boyfriend had just shot himself.”

The man and the woman, who were not named, were transported to Ascension St. John Hospital on Moross Road in Detroit. Hilla said the woman had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but had been able to communicate with investigators. The man reportedly had sustained at least one wound and remained unresponsive as of press time Sept. 27.

“It’s an ongoing investigation at this time,” Hilla said last week. “A handgun was recovered at the scene.”

There was no ongoing danger to the surrounding neighborhood stemming from the incident, Hilla said.
