SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township police are investigating a stabbing in Shelby Township that left two men dead and one woman critically injured Jan. 2.

The Shelby Township Police and Fire departments responded just before 8 a.m. to an address on Woodall Road, south of Auburn Road and east of Ryan Road, after a 911 call reported that three people were stabbed.

“The original call came in as a 911 call from one of the residents of a household on Woodall Street stating that three people had been stabbed,” Shelby Township Police Sgt. Mark Benedettini said in an email interview Jan. 3. “After arriving on scene, our officers heard a female screaming for help, so they forced entry into the home, finding two males and one female who had all been stabbed multiple times each. The 63-year-old male died at the hospital and the 62-year-old female remains at the hospital in critical condition. A 40-year-old male was discovered dead at the residence.”

According to police, no other people were located inside the home. Police have not released any names.

The incident is under investigation, but authorities said they do not believe there is a danger to the public.

“There is not a threat to the public at this time. However, this is still an active investigation so not much more information can be released,” Benedettini said.

The investigation continues and autopsies are pending.

“We will also release more information once we are able to,” Benedettini said.
