HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Members of the Michigan State Police were in Harrison Township Jan. 22 to assist in the search for an elderly man who local officials said went missing more than two weeks prior.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the missing man, whose name and age had not been released at press time, was reportedly last seen the week of Jan. 7 at his home in the area of Huron Pointe Drive and Lakeshore Drive. Wickersham said family members reported the man missing, and detectives responded to the area.

According to Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax, based on evidence that was found at the scene of the man’s home, specifically on his boat, members of the dive team conducted a search of the water Jan. 16. Huron Pointe Drive and Lakeshore Drive are adjacent to Black Creek on one side and Campau Bay on the other. Both run into Lake St. Clair.

“We did search the (water), being the person lives in that area and had some damage to their boat,” Yax said Jan. 17. She said nothing was found in the water. “We have not located the person and will continue our investigation.”

Wickersham said members of the missing man’s family contacted the Michigan State Police “for a second opinion.”

“They’re out there searching the water with assistance from our divers,” Wickersham said last week.

An officer with the Michigan State Police’s Oak Park post said Jan. 22 that no further details were being released while the investigation remained ongoing.

No foul play was suspected at press time.
