SOUTHFIELD — Police are looking for the man responsible for a recent assault with intent to murder.

According to a police report, a man told police he was getting out of his car around 7:42 p.m. June 11 at a condominium complex in the 25000 block of Shiawassee Circle when a man came up and punched him in the neck.

The man told police that after a short struggle, the suspect then ran east through the apartment complex, and the victim tried to follow after him.

The man told police that after the incident he realized he had been cut with a knife and had several lacerations on his head and neck. He was then transported to a local hospital, police said.

“A knife blade and handle were recovered separately where the assault took place,” police said in the report.

The victim said he did not know the suspect and had never seen him before.

The suspect is described as a 19-year-old black man with a thin build. During the attack, he was wearing what police described as a blue jumpsuit and a white beanie hat with a skull design.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
