Stabbing suspect apprehended after high-speed chase

MOUNT CLEMENS — Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a high-speed chase on Interstate 94 during rush hour on March 22 following an alleged stabbing in Mount Clemens.

According to a report, deputies responded to the Macomb YMCA on North River Road at 4:30 p.m. on a call about a physical altercation. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a man who reported that he had been stabbed in the leg.

The victim was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect had fled the area in a black Chevrolet Malibu and headed eastbound on I-94. Several additional law enforcement agencies assisted in the subsequent pursuit, and the suspect was stopped and apprehended on eastbound I-94, near 23 Mile Road.

Sgt. Renee Yax stated that several police vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

The suspect was uninjured and taken into custody. At press time, he was being held at the Macomb County Jail. The incident remained under investigation at press time.
