Southfield police arrest shooting suspect

SOUTHFIELD — Police have identified a man they say is responsible for shooting two people earlier this month.

According to a police report, at around 7:38 p.m. Aug. 2, police responded to the 19000 block of Melrose Street on a report of a shooting.

When police arrived, they located a 19-year-old man in the driveway who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to a local hospital by the Southfield Fire Department, police said.

A second victim was located near the residence, police said, and also appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

The second man was treated at the scene, police said.

Police were able to identify the person they say is responsible for the shooting: a 19-year-old man, who was taken into custody.

Deputy Chief Nick Loussia did not return a request for further comment by press time.
