SOUTHFIELD — Police are investigating a shooting at a local hookah lounge.

A man called police and reported that there were multiple people shooting at him in front of a smoke bar on Northwestern Highway around 1:25 a.m. Jan. 20.

When police arrived, they located the victim at a nearby gas station. He said he had been physically assaulted by multiple unknown men inside the business.

The man told police he had been punched in the head at least twice, and police noted in their report that the victim’s nose was bleeding.

After he was hit, the man said, he went to his vehicle and grabbed his firearm. The men then exited the bar and started shooting at him.

The victim shot back at the suspects before he fled the area on foot. He told police he does not believe any of the shots he fired hit anyone.

Investigators determined that several vehicles, including the victim’s, had been hit by gunfire.

Nearby businesses were also hit, and a window was broken out.

There are no suspects, police said.

Police said they are also looking into the establishment’s liquor license, and at press time, the incident was still under investigation.
