METRO DETROIT — Forget about what the kiddos are wearing this Halloween — trick-or-treating fashion is going to the dogs. And cats.

The pet supply industry is a big business, with more than $62 billion in annual spending. From food and treats to shampoos and even apparel, pet owners are throwing down big bucks on items that make their furry friend feel more like part of the family.

And that, of course, includes holidays.

Fox Business estimates that around 16 percent of families will put their pet pal into a costume this season, whether it’s store-bought or homemade.

For a little spooky inspiration, we asked our readers to share photos of their pets’ Halloween costumes. The results — pictured in the gallery below — are as adorable as you might expect.
