ROSEVILLE — Roseville police are asking anyone from the public with information on a suspect wanted for assault to contact them.

The incident in question took place at approximately 3:25 p.m. March 6 at the Walmart located at 28804 Gratiot Ave. in Roseville. According to police, the suspect was shopping inside the store and utilized the self-scan checkout. On the way out of the store, the suspect was asked to produce his receipt by a store employee, and the employee found that the suspect had not paid for some of the merchandise, police said.

The merchandise was recovered by the employee, and the suspect appeared to be continuing to exit the store. However, the suspect then allegedly turned around and assaulted the employee by throwing him to the ground and into a shopping cart, which caused a cut on the employee’s head, according to police.

Police said the suspect exited the store and left in a silver, older model Chevy Impala. The employee, a 23-year-old Roseville man, reportedly was transported to the hospital and received treatment for his injuries.

Investigators described the suspect as an approximately 40-year-old black man who stood between 6 feet, 2 inches and 6 feet, 5 inches in height and who weighed about 225 pounds. He had a full beard and mustache, and he was wearing a black jacket with “Ron” written on it. The jacket also had a globe-shaped logo with a green circle around it and unknown writing next to the logo.

Anyone with information about the suspect or with information regarding the logo on the suspect’s jacket is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department at (586) 447-4493.
