DETROIT — A Roseville man was arraigned in 36th District Court May 24 in connection with a fatal car crash that took place in Detroit the day before.

Johnathon Lloyd Horton, 31, is facing one count of manslaughter-motor vehicle and one count of operating while under the influence causing death. The court entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. He has a preliminary exam scheduled for June 9 at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, and no lawyer had been named at press time.

According to a press release from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, at 2:30 a.m. May 23, Horton allegedly was driving his vehicle on Chalmers Street in Detroit. As he approached the intersection with Mayfield, he allegedly crashed into another vehicle being driven by Jerrica Hicks, 26, of Nashville, Tennessee. Hicks and a male passenger were taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Horton allegedly was driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash, the press release said.
