Rochester Hills voters to decide council candidates in Aug. 6 primary election

ROCHESTER HILLS — Readers in the Rochester Post’s coverage area will head to the polls Aug. 6 to vote for candidates in the Rochester Hills City Council race for at-large council seats. Following are profiles of the candidates.

Candidates were asked, in 75 words or fewer, to state the top items they wish to accomplish if elected and how they would go about accomplishing them. If a candidate went over the word limit, (…) replaces the rest of the answer. (I) indicates that the candidate is an incumbent. The answers are printed verbatim. Profiles were only sent to candidates in contested races.


Rochester Hills City Council, at-large seat
Six candidates are vying for four spots to compete for two four-year terms in November.

Jeff Duperon
Age: 54
Occupation: President and Owner of TNE International, LLC, a Rochester Hills-based International Trade Company.
Municipality of residence: Rochester Hills
For how long: Since Dec. 2019, Nearly 20 Years.

Education: AAS in Electronic Engineering Technology, BAS in Automated Manufacturing Technology, and an MBA.
Previously held elected offices:  None
Top goals: I’m very proud of the achievements of our city. Looking to the future, it is important that there is a focus on leveraging the remaining 5% of available buildable property in our city, including luring international investment to Rochester Hills; the kind of investment that will create good paying jobs. This also includes optimizing zoning laws, driving green energy and green infrastructure initiatives, preserving green space and increasing citizen participation in local government.

Dale Hetrick (I)
Age: 61
Occupation: Life Insurance Specialist
Municipality of residence: Rochester Hills
For how long: 25 years

Top goals:
Public Safety – Focus on assuring we maintain and improve on our reputation as the Safest City in Michigan.
Roads – Traffic congestion is the top concern of residents. I will assure the City continues to budget for and produce road improvements that reduce congestion and improve road quality.
Innovation – Complete transformational projects that include the Auburn Corridor and Innovation Hills.
Finance – Maintain the City’s strong financial position now and into the future.

Angela Joyce

Theresa Mungioli            
Age: 61
Occupation: Project Manager at automotive company
Municipality of residence: Rochester Hills

Values – balance taxes/revenues with expenses so property values remain affordable
Opportunity – work with the community to find new ways for families and businesses to thrive
Transparency – Communicate with the community so they know where tax dollars are spent, have input into the budget process and provide accountability to the community.
Excellence – continue to find new ways for Rochester Hills to excel.

Sharon Pizzuti
Age: 48
Occupation: Executive Director, Courtland Consulting
Municipality of residence: Rochester Hills

Public service is about advocating for people, not politics. As a 27-year resident, my mission includes utilizing my public sector and private consulting expertise improving local, state & federal government to further the success for Rochester Hills by being fiscally responsible, encouraging economic development, supporting public safety, respecting our history, protecting our environment, and honoring every resident. Top goals: To put progress over politics, (in no special order) I want to continue to work with our partners at the county and state level to better address our ever-growing traffic issues. We need to work better with our community groups to combat the opiate crisis. Enhance our parks while protecting the environment.
