WARREN — Coin-operated car washes along Ryan Road were reportedly targeted for thievery on at least four occasions between April 1 and April 8.

Detective Sgt. Robert Eidt, of the Warren Police Department, said coin boxes at the Ryan Road Car Wash at 29800 Ryan Road, just north of Common Road, were damaged three times: on April 1, between 3 and 7:40 a.m.; on April 3, between 2:20 and 6:30 a.m.; and on April 6, between midnight and 3:10 a.m. On April 6, the coin boxes in five car wash bays were pried open.

“Apparently, there’s a dollar bill changer that looked like it had been messed with, but they didn’t get anything out of it,” Eidt said.

A coin box at the Car Wash, located at 21700 Ryan Road, south of Nine Mile Road, was also reportedly opened sometime between 4 p.m. April 6 and 9 a.m. April 8.

At press time, Eidt said the thefts remained under investigation and that anyone with information about the incidents or the suspects involved should contact the officer in charge of the case, Detective Cpl. Chad Wolowiec, at (586) 574-4784.
