I was a 17-year-old senior in high school when my dad pulled into the driveway with this car (a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am). It was raining cats and dogs and when my dad walked into the house it looked like he had wet his pants. The T-tops leaked really bad at the front edge so the water just hit the front of the seat and drained toward the back of the seat. My dad was so mad, he worked for GM and I thought he was going to drive that car back to the dealer and tell them to keep it. That was probably the only time that this car was driven in the rain.

If I washed and waxed the car, my dad would let me take it out on a date. What a thrill driving around in this at 17 years old. Not to mention it was a chick magnet. I remember taking a young lady to the multiscreen drive-in theater to see the original "Star Wars" movie. While there we looked over to the neighboring screen to see "Smokey and the Bandit" playing. Others at the drive-in noticed it too and we spent the rest of the night with people coming over and wanting to check out the car. When my dad wanted to sell the car in 1989, I stepped in and bought it from him and still have it to this day. One of the pictures is of my son in the passenger seat as we head over to the Woodward Dream Cruise. Thanks for listening!
