ROSEVILLE — On Friday, Feb. 19, police arrested four students — 17-year-old Da’lon Ashford, of Detroit, and three juveniles — at Roseville High School for having guns at school reportedly in anticipation of an after-school fight with students from another school.
The police investigation determined that a juvenile subject had taken two handguns from his home that were registered to an undisclosed individual, brought them to school and passed them around between the four students, whom police said had classes together.

WARREN — Two people were wounded, one man was in custody, and another was reportedly on the run after a shooting at a home near Eight Mile and Groesbeck early on Feb. 21.
Detective Sgt. Stephen Mills, of the Warren Police Department, said the search continued at press time for a 25-year-old Macomb Township man who allegedly fired multiple rounds after two other men became involved in an altercation during a family party at a home in the 12000 block of Georgiana just after 2 a.m.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Chippewa Valley High School officials reported that a threat made to the school over social media Friday morning was determined not credible enough to cancel classes.
Diane Blain, the school district's director of community relations, said the threats were posted on Twitter, and Clinton Township police are investigating.

MACOMB COUNTY/GROSSE POINTES - Michigan State Police troopers and Macomb County Sheriff deputies were involved in a chase of a reportedly stolen U-Haul truck at approximately 1 a.m. Feb. 24.
Lieutenant John Michalke of the Macomb County Sheriff’s department said the chase began on westbound I-94 at 23 Mile Road, and ended on Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe. Michalke said sheriff’s deputies joined the State Police in the chase on I-94 at Hall Road.

TROY — Troy police arrested a man they say answered two Craigslist ads for iPhones for sale, shorted one seller and took the phone from the second seller and ran away without paying.
Troy Police Capt. Robert Redmond said the man agreed to meet the first seller at the McDonald’s at 36895 Dequindre Road just after 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 to purchase an iPhone 6 for $675.
According to reports, the seller gave the man the phone, and the man gave the seller an envelope with money.

HARPER WOODS — One of two teens involved in a January carjacking who has also been charged with murder in a separate case will undergo a mental competency examination before his next court date.
Ralph Anthony Marshall, 17, is charged with carjacking, armed robbery, assault with intent to murder, unlawful driving away of an automobile, receiving and concealing stolen property — motor vehicle, and felony firearm in connection with a carjacking that occurred in the 14400 block of Edmore on Jan. 23.

SOUTHFIELD — Police say they have positively identified a suspect in a 5-year-old cold case home invasion.
According to the Southfield Police Department Crime Prevention Bureau’s weekly crime report, the original incident occurred between 3 and 5:05 a.m. June 11, 2011, in the 23000 block of Woodland Drive.
The report said that officers responded to a call about a home invasion in progress, and when they arrived at the scene, they determined that a home invasion had in fact occured.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — An Oak Park man is expected to spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading no contest to murder charges.
On Feb. 17 in Macomb County Circuit Court, 32-year-old Ujuan Burton pleaded no contest on four felony charges stemming from the death of Bernie’s Market owner Emil Salem, 50.
Salem was shot and killed in an altercation with Burton in the party store, located on Garfield Road, near 17 Mile Road, the night of March 26, 2015.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A 23-year-old woman has been sentenced for her role in the death of her toddler son last August.
Brandee Wright, of Warren, was sentenced Feb. 12 by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mary Chrzanowski on three charges related to the death of 18-month-old Amere Carver.

Authorities are on the lookout for a suspect wanted for killing a woman in a hit and run recently.
Deputy Chief Nick Loussia said in a news release that around 2:50 a.m. Feb. 23, a woman was walking on westbound Eight Mile Road, between Southfield and Evergreen roads, when she was struck and killed by a vehicle.
After striking the woman, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene southbound on Evergreen Road, south of Eight Mile.

On Feb. 22, defendant Philip Frame, 61, of Shelby Township, appeared for his probable cause conference at the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township wearing a leg brace. Defense attorney Stephen Rabaut said his client missed his Jan. 19 court date because he had been hospitalized.
On Feb. 22, Rabaut waived the conference and said his client would stay mute, so visiting municipal Judge Matthew Rumora entered a not guilty plea on Frame’s behalf.

WARREN — Within approximately two hours, Warren police and Warren Woods Public Schools officials found the individual who allegedly posted a threat against Warren Woods Tower High School on social media Feb. 16.
District Superintendent Stacey Denewith-Fici said in an email that the threat was made by a current student, who was immediately taken into police custody. A concerned citizen contacted an administrator regarding the alleged threat posted on Snapchat.

WEST BLOOMFIELD —Twelve members of the Rollin 60s Crips street gang in northwest Detroit have been indicted, U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade announced Feb. 10.
Included in the 12 was 30-year-old West Bloomfield resident Sadeisha Johns, also known as Lady Mayhem, who was charged with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act conspiracy.
The indictments are a product of the Detroit One initiative, which aims to reduce crime in Detroit through the combined efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement.

WARREN — The ice rink next to Warren City Hall is obviously not meant for hockey.
But that hasn’t stopped players from shooting pucks into the plexiglass boards, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage already this winter.
“People are playing hockey on the ice rink after hours, and they’re hitting the pucks so hard it’s breaking out the plexiglass, causing damage,” Warren Police Detective Sgt. Rob Eidt said.

Roseville Deputy Police Chief Don Glandon said in an email that Richard Mckinney, 28, of Washington Township, was taken into custody without incident at around 7 p.m. Feb. 16. The arrest took place in Detroit.

HAZEL PARK — While some categories saw an uptick in crime in 2015, Hazel Park continues to maintain an overall five-year decline in crime, according to numbers recently released by the city’s Police Department.
“Overall, we are still doing extremely well compared to where we were in some categories several years ago,” said Hazel Park Police Chief Martin Barner.
For example, there were 166 cases of breaking and entering in 2011, which dropped to 104 incidents in 2012, 76 incidents in 2013, 75 incidents in 2014, and 63 incidents in 2015.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal stabbing that occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Northport Apartments.
The Sheriff’s Office said that when deputies arrived to investigate a reported stabbing at the apartment complex north of Hall Road and east of Garfield, they found a wounded 21-year-old man. That man would be pronounced deceased after being transferred to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

OAKLAND COUNTY — It’s been more than 10 years that the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority has been working with law enforcement officers around the county as part of its pre-booking jail diversion program.
But recently, the county made its effort official with a resolution to continue training that keeps nonviolent misdemeanor offenders with mental illnesses or developmental disabilities out of jail.
