MOUNT CLEMENS — An Eastpointe woman, charged with first-degree child abuse for allegedly injuring her boyfriend’s 14-month-old son in May 2015, went on trial in Macomb County Circuit Court last week.

The trial started May 4, continued May 5 and 6, and was scheduled to resume May 10, after press time.

HAZEL PARK — The search for a missing Troy woman came to a tragic end when a Hazel Park man allegedly confessed to police that her body was hidden in his home.

Jordan McClanahan, 23, is charged in the murder of Jessica White, 21, whose badly decomposed body was found wrapped up and stowed away in a roofline storage area connected to the bedroom of his father’s bungalow home.

HAZEL PARK — A woman who works as a police dispatcher in Warren is filing a civil lawsuit  in federal court against a Hazel Park police officer, claiming he used her boyfriend’s confiscated smartphone to access the nanny cam in her home and spy on her while she breast-fed her baby.

The plaintiff is Megan Pearce, mother of the baby, who is being represented by the Detroit-based law firm Ernst & Marko PLC. The accused is officer Michael Emmi.

FERNDALE — Ferndale police arrested a 28-year-old Pontiac motorist after he allegedly fled from an officer and crashed into another car.

Travis Dawayne Lee was arraigned in the 43rd District Court on Saturday, April 30, on charges of third-degree fleeing and eluding police, a five-year felony; resisting a police officer, a two-year felony; and driving with a suspended license-second offense, a one-year misdemeanor.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A suspected late night of drinking led to the destruction of traffic lights at a busy Clinton Township intersection.

Clinton Township police said that around 3:30 a.m. on April 24 a vehicle was traveling southbound on Groesbeck Highway, ran a red light and proceeded to hit another vehicle that was traveling westbound on Metropolitan Parkway.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — After investigating a breaking and entering incident that allegedly occurred April 18 at a residence on Iverness Lane, near West Long Lake and Orchard Lake roads, the West Bloomfield Police Department determined that the incident did not happen and there is no suspect at large.

ROYAL OAK — Officers arrested two men early April 24 after one allegedly grabbed a purse from inside Mr. B’s and ran to a stolen vehicle.

Detroit residents Ivan Sheppard, 24, and Ashton Currie, 22, were arraigned April 25 in 44th District Court before Magistrate Donald Chisholm. Sheppard was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and larceny in a building. He was given a $25,000 bond, no 10 percent. Currie was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property and possession of marijuana. He was given a $50,000 bond, no 10 percent.

FRASER — The Fraser Department of Public Safety is asking residents across all of Macomb County to be wary of a suspect allegedly involved in an abduction attempt.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. May 2. An 11-year-old Fraser boy was walking down Richert Street, near 13 Mile and Hayes roads, when he was allegedly approached by an unknown individual.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office reported that a stranger danger incident took place during the evening of May 3 in Macomb Township.

The incident reportedly took place on Burgandy Drive, which is between Card Road and Heydenreich Road just north of Hall Road, at approximately 2:30 p.m.

A 14-year-old boy and his parents filed a report with the sheriff’s office claiming that the boy was approached by a black man driving a white vehicle while he was walking home around 2:30 p.m.

ROCHESTER — For the past two years, the Rochester Police Department has seen a surge in calls for service, which, in turn, has caused the department’s response time for non-emergency incidents to increase for the first time in seven years.

With the average jumping from four minutes and four seconds to five minutes, Rochester Police Chief Steve Schettenhelm is hoping to bring that number back down with the help of a new K-9 program.

MADISON HEIGHTS — At press time, authorities were investigating the circumstances of a woman’s death in Madison Heights.

Cynthia Marie McCabe, 56, was found dead April 19 inside her home at Ackels Mobile Home Community, located at 25151 Dequindre Road.

The deceased was reportedly found by her husband, who also lives at the residence. The husband called 911 and reported the incident.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On April 26, 41-A District Court Judge Douglas Shepherd agreed to an adjournment of a case regarding an alleged marijuana dispensary that police raided and shut down July 10, 2015.

Police said they arrested five men and seized 12 pounds and 200 jars of marijuana, 993 marijuana edibles, a large variety of drug paraphernalia and $10,000 in cash from Advance Medical Supply, located near Van Dyke Avenue and 23 Mile Road.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — At an April 26 court hearing, 41-A District Court Judge Douglas Shepherd scheduled a special half-day preliminary examination for Philip Frame, 61, of Shelby Township, who is charged with more than 70 counts of possession of child sexually abusive material.

William Harding, chief of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office Internet and ID Theft Unit, said the exam will be lengthy because of the number of exhibits to present, and that at least two witnesses will be called to testify.

WARREN — The alleged at-fault driver in an early morning crash that killed a 65-year-old husband and father on April 13 reportedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.18, according to test results recently received by the Warren Police Department.

What’s more, the driver, Moncia Denise Lacey, of Warren, apparently never obtained a license and is currently being held on outstanding traffic-related warrants from three separate agencies beyond her most recent charges out of the 37th District Court, jail records show.
