Police seek witnesses to pedestrian death in Troy parking lot

Police are searching for a man who drove a black SUV through a medical office parking lot just before 9 a.m. May 24.

He is suspected of crashing into and killing a vending machine supplier who had been doing work at the building, located at 500 Kirts Blvd., west of Livernois Road, south of Big Beaver Road.

According to the police report, the driver fled the scene and remains at large.

Police said they do not know why he was in the parking lot.

The man who was struck, JV Binkley, 48, of Ann Arbor, was transported to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, where he was pronounced dead.

Police investigated throughout the weekend and are currently reviewing surveillance video.

The driver is described as a black man about 30 to 40 years old, with a short, well-trimmed beard.
