SOUTHFIELD — Authorities are looking for two men who are allegedly responsible for robbing a public storage facility.

Police responded to a storage business in the 19000 block of Eight Mile Road at around 11:16 a.m. Jan. 8 on a report that an armed robbery had just occurred.

The victim told police that while he was sitting at the front desk, two men entered the business, and he believed them to be customers. The victim said he helped the men with inquiries they had about pricing for various units.

After walking around the store for a few minutes, one of the men walked up to the front counter where the victim was seated and produced a handgun from his jacket, demanding money.

After giving the first suspect an undisclosed amount of money, police said the victim was instructed to lay on the floor face-down and count to 20 before getting up.

The victim told police he counted to 30 before getting up, and then he discovered that the suspects were gone. The man said he called his supervisor and later the police.

Police said victims of a crime should always call the police first before doing anything else.

Officers arrived at the scene and reviewed the surveillance video, confirming the incident.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a black Ford Edge.

The first suspect is described as a black man with a dark complexion and a thin build. He is around 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing a gray jacket, a red-and-white knit hat, light-colored pants, dark shoes, red gloves and a scarf over his face.

The second suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion. He is around 5 feet 10 inches tall and was wearing a tan jacket, a dark-colored ski mask with a brim, light boots, dark pants and black gloves, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspects or their whereabouts is asked to call the Southfield Police Department at (248) 796-5500.
