SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Multiple police departments received reports of a man running around wearing nothing but red boots on Sept. 13.

The Utica Police Department and the Shelby Township Police Department received multiple calls stating that a naked man was running through both communities wearing only red boots.

Reports were made that the man was running in and out of River Bends Park in Shelby Township.

“Our officer was flagged down at River Bends Park. A passerby reported a nude male was last seen on the trail wearing red boots. We checked the area with negative result. He was identified by another department,” said Shelby Township Police Capt. Jason Schmittler.

Shelby Township police officers searched the reported areas, but were unable to find the suspect.

Calls then came in that the man was running down Van Dyke Avenue and then Hall Road and into Rochester Hills.

Utica police said they searched the area for the man, but they were unable to spot him.

“Our department did not have contact and could not locate him,” said Utica Police Chief Sean Coady.

None of the callers could report which direction the man had been traveling.

Anyone with information can call the Shelby Township Police Department at (586) 731-2121 or the Utica Police Department at (586) 731-2345.
