WARREN — Police investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-old woman dead in June have made an arrest in the case and have now named two more suspects, including the alleged shooter.

According to a release from Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer, Ashinay Horton-Starks, 23, is wanted for murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Johnice Clark. The shooting took place at about 9:30 p.m. June 5, after Clark left a party near Schoenherr Road and Masonic Boulevard.

Police said Clark and a friend were chased from the scene by another vehicle, allegedly driven by Horton-Starks.

“Horton-Starks fired rounds at Ms. Clark. Ms. Clark was struck in the head by gunfire and died as a result,” Warren police said in a statement.

Clark was in the passenger seat of the vehicle driven by her friend when she was shot. The driver pulled into the parking lot of 7-Eleven at Schoenherr and 12 Mile Road and asked an employee to call 911. Clark was reportedly declared dead at the scene.

Horton-Starks was further described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 120 pounds.

Two other women, Martise Zorn and Schakerra Starks — Horton-Starks’ mother, were named as suspects in the case, on allegations that they tampered with evidence. The charges are 10-year felonies.

Zorn was arraigned Nov. 4 and was released on a $2,000 bond, according to court records. She indicated she would hire an attorney, but no appearance had been filed in the case at press time. She was due back in court for a probable cause conference on Nov. 16, before Judge Suzanne Faunce.

Starks was arraigned Nov. 1 and remained jailed with bail set at $1 million by Judge John Chmura at her arraignment. She requested a court-appointed attorney, according to court records, and was due back in court for a probable cause conference Nov. 9, after press time.

Anyone with information about the case or the whereabouts of Horton-Starks was asked to call the Warren Police Department at (586) 574-4877.
