Pedestrian listed in critical condition after being struck on Haggerty Road

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP — At approximately 7:05 p.m. Dec. 22, the Oakland County Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted deputies with an investigation of a pedestrian injury that occurred on Haggerty Road, near Crumb Road.

According to information provided by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 59-year-old West Bloomfield resident was walking in the roadway in a non-crosswalk area when he was struck by a southbound 2019 Dodge Ram, which was operated by a 44-year-old West Bloomfield resident.

The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing in an area that is reported to have minimal lighting.

He was transported to a hospital and was listed as being in critical condition.

The operator of the Dodge Ram was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident, police said.

The incident is  under investigation.
