SHELBY TOWNSHIP — At approximately 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, the Shelby Township Police and Fire departments responded to a report of a serious crash involving a pedestrian near Auburn Road and Parkdale Street.

Capt. Jason Schmittler, of the Shelby Township Police Department, said that a 29-year-old Shelby Township man was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle, and that the driver of the vehicle reported the incident.

Shelby Township EMS transported the 29-year-old man to Troy Beaumont Hospital for lifesaving efforts, but medical staff pronounced him deceased after arrival.

Police said that alcohol might have been a factor with the 29-year-old man.

“Nobody is in custody,” Schmittler said. “It’s still under investigation at this point.”

Police ask that any witnesses to the collision or individuals with information relevant to the collision call the Police Department at (586) 731-2121, ext. 413.
