One man charged, two at large for $51,000 theft at Saks

TROY — One man stands charged and two others remain at large after they allegedly stole $51,000 in merchandise from the Saks Fifth Avenue at Somerset Collection just after 10 a.m. March 12.

According to the police report, three men entered the Louis Vuitton boutique inside Saks, grabbed about $51,000 in merchandise, then fled.

Police said loss prevention officers caught one suspect, Rollen Keith Ligon, 32, from Wheeling, Illinois.

The other two suspects reportedly escaped in a Kia rental car, which Lathrup Village police recovered with several of the stolen handbags inside.

The suspects are described as a 25-year-old black man with a thin build, wearing black pants and a black-and-white hoodie, and a 25-year-old black man with a thin build, wearing gray pants and a black hoodie.

Police said evidence suggests the trio traveled from out of state to commit the crime.

Ligon was arraigned in the 52-4 District Court March 13 on first-degree retail fraud. His bond was set at $20,000. He requested a court-appointed attorney, and his attorney could not be reached for comment by press time.
