WARREN — Fire crews were able to quickly bring a house fire in the 21700 block of La Salle Avenue under control July 24, where there were no injuries and no damage to adjacent structures reported.

Warren Fire Chief Tim Morgan said firefighters were called to the scene north of Toepfer Road and east of Schoenherr Road at 7:40 p.m., where they encountered flames coming through the front window of the home.

“Our (battalion chief) was the first on the scene. He did a quick 360, then our Engine 2 was the first on the scene. They got the fire under control,” Morgan said.

Firefighters assigned to Engine 3, Quint 1, Rescue 4 and Squad 2 also responded. Morgan said the fire was brought under control within about 10 minutes, but that there appeared to be “significant” damage to the home. No one was there when firefighters arrived, and there didn’t appear to be any pets inside.

“Right now it’s been boarded up and we’re waiting for the fire inspector to get inside,” Morgan said. “From where I was standing it looked pretty significant. It sounds like it was rolling pretty bad. It was a good stop.”

No injuries were reported among responding firefighters.

The cause remained undetermined at press time, pending a review by the Warren Fire Department’s inspector.
