MOUNT CLEMENS — Mount Clemens High junior guard Armani Cannon nailed three free throws in the final minute of overtime in a Jan. 18 contest with Detroit Public Safety Academy that proved to be the difference, as the Bathers upended the Eagles 66-63 to stop a six-game skid.

"I just went to the line with the mindset of helping my team," said Cannon, who finished with 20 points. "It was important for us to get this win. Hopefully this can get us back on track."

The game was tied 57-57 at the end of regulation and got to overtime when PSA senior wing Thomas Henderson, who scored a game-high 21 points, sank two free throws with 10.4 second left. Neither team led by more than six points in the game.

Cannon in overtime hit two free throws with 1:07 left to give the Bathers (4-9) a 62-60 advantage. He split a pair with :46.9 left in the extra session to give Mount Clemens a 63-60 edge.

"We've played a tough schedule to this point, so we should be able to build some momentum now," Bathers coach Pete Trammel said. "I just want to see some consistency from our team. It's good to get this win, though, especially at home."

Mount Clemens freshman forward Javaughn Hannah and sophomore guard Davion Miles netted 17 points and 16 points, respectively, in the win.

PSA senior guard Davontae Webb chipped in with 16 points.

The Bathers next game is against Detroit Frederick Douglass at 2 p.m. Jan. 26 on the road.

The Eagles next tip is against Corunna at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at home.
