WEST BLOOMFIELD — Daddies and daughters are on their last dance of the season, which means it’s time for moms and sons to hit the lanes.

The West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission will host the annual Mother and Son Bowling Party from 1-4 p.m. March 14 at Wonderland Lanes in Walled Lake.

“This event is a great opportunity for moms and sons to spend a day together relaxing and having fun at the bowling alley,” Public Information Officer Meagan Kurnat said in an email. “We like offering gender-specific, parent-child events because when you have one-on-one time, it really can change the everyday dynamic and create lasting memories.”

Ashley Stokes, recreation programmer, said the Parks and Recreation Committee has been brainstorming a series of events designed specifically for family members.

“Since the father-daughter dance is a classic, we were thinking of another activity that the mother and son could do together,” Stokes said.

The mother-and-son bowling event is smaller in size compared to the daddy-daughter dance, but that is because of the bowling alley limits, Stokes said. Slots are still open, and right now the Parks and Recreation Committee can accommodate up to 64 people. If necessary, Stokes said, they will expand the event to another part of the bowling alley to accommodate more people.

Mother and Son Bowling costs $22 per person for residents and $24 per person for nonresidents. The package includes shoe rentals, two games of bowling, pizza and a beverage. The sons will receive a goodie bag and a flower to give to their mother.

Those who register before March 8 will receive a $5 discount off each registration.

Though there will not be a photographer at the bowling alley to take pictures for the moms and sons, a Parks and Recreation Committee member will take photos and post them on the committee’s Facebook page.

Wonderland Lanes is located at 8265 Richardson Road in Walled Lake.
