CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A woman missing from Clinton Township was located in Detroit.

The Clinton Township Police Department issued a press release Dec. 27 requesting the public’s help in locating Rebecca Marie Woffard, 34.

She had previously last been seen near her residence near Gratiot Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway. On Jan. 2, police located Woffard in a hospital in Detroit.

Clinton Township Police Capt. Richard Maierle said Jan. 3 that Woffard lives with her husband in Clinton Township, caring for a bedridden woman.

Maierle said that on Dec. 27, Woffard reportedly “takes off and wanted to go to the hospital.” She intended to go to McLaren Macomb Hospital, but “somehow ends up at St. John Moross” in Detroit.

She was then transferred to another Detroit-based hospital. Maierle said she gave a “Jane Doe” response when inquired about her identity. She reportedly suffers from PTSD.

Members of the Detroit Police Department reportedly picked her up and called Clinton Township Police to verify her Clinton Township-based address. A local dispatcher reportedly verified Woffard was the missing person, and a detective corroborated the situation.

“The timeline is odd,” Maierle said. “We’re trying to get the report. We don’t know how Detroit got her. … All we care about is she OK.”

At press time, Woffard reportedly remained in a hospital for observation.
