A Flint man has been charged following a string of robberies at pharmacies across Oakland and Genesee counties.

Marcel Marquaveon Hinkle, 27, was arraigned Feb. 6 in 52-3 District Court by Judge Michael Bosnic on three counts of armed robbery, a felony firearms charge and one count of unarmed robbery following incidents in Orion Township, Auburn Hills, Lake Orion and Rochester Hills. Bond was denied for Hinkle, who has been placed under an Michigan Department of Corrections retainer.

Additional charges stemming from other incidents are expected.

Hinkle, who was previously convicted of armed robbery and concealing a weapon, was discharged by the Michigan Department of Corrections in November and was on parole when the series of robberies took place.

He is accused of committing robberies at the Walgreens Pharmacy at 3520 S. Baldwin Road in Orion Township on Jan.19; the Walgreens Pharmacy at 450 N. Park St. in Lake Orion on Jan. 20; the CVS Pharmacy at 31010 John R Road in Madison Heights and the Walgreens at 2985 Crooks Road in Rochester Hills on Jan. 22; the Walgreens at 7110 Dixie Highway in Independence Township, the CVS Pharmacy at 4031 Grange Hall Road in Holly and the Walgreens at 3270 W. Silver Lake Road in Fenton on Jan. 23; and the CVS at 1980 E. Big Beaver in Troy and the Rite Aid at 2480 Lapeer Road in Auburn Hills on Jan. 31.

Hinkle was arrested Feb. 4 by the FBI Oakland County Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force following a multi-agency investigation.

“I am extremely proud of the team effort of all the agencies involved to bring this clearly dangerous serial armed robber to justice,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a press release. “Hopefully, this time, he will stay behind bars and not threaten the public again.”

Hinkle’s next court date is 9 a.m. Feb. 16 in 52-3 District Court. He did not have an attorney on file at press time.
