MOUNT CLEMENS — A 55-year-old Detroit man is facing felony assault charges after he allegedly attacked a man with a sword at a Mount Clemens apartment complex June 4.

According to Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax, Christopher Harrison was arrested and arraigned on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder following a confrontation at the Sunset Manor Apartments, 135 N. River Road.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the complex at approximately 5:25 p.m. for an assault in progress and that a man had been assaulted with a sword and was bleeding from his face and hands, according to the report.

It’s reported that the 56-year-old victim had been in a verbal argument over money with a 35-year-old Mount Clemens woman. Harrison overheard the altercation and attacked the victim with a sword. The victim was knocked to the ground, but was able to get the sword away from Harrison.

The victim had several cuts, but declined medical treatment. Neither Harrison nor the female were injured. It is unknown who the sword belonged to.

Harrison was arraigned June 5 in the 41-B District Court of Clinton Township and received a $7,500 bond, 10 percent. He is scheduled to return to court on June 19. Harrison had no attorney at press time.
