TROY — A 41-year-old Troy man has been arrested in connection with the assault and battery of four teens in Boulan Park.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:16 p.m. Aug. 22 under the pavilion at Boulan Park, located at 3671 Crooks Road.

According to the Troy police, a group of friends, two 16-year-old males and two 15-year-old males, ran under the pavilion — where the suspect was already located — to shelter from a rainstorm.

“For unknown reasons, the suspect struck one of the friends in the back of the head and then began punching and slapping everyone else,” Sgt. Jason Clark said in an email. “The friends were able to escape by running away from the suspect.”

Police said the victims provided a description of the suspect to officers, who soon located the suspect walking north on Northfield Parkway, near Wattles Road. The man allegedly told them he had no knowledge of the incident at the park.

The parents of all four boys pressed charges, and the suspect was formally charged with assault and battery.
