Looking Back: Winter at the Packard Proving Grounds

Shelby - Utica News | Published December 31, 2014

Roberta Vincent, 6, poses next to her family’s 1928 Packard motor car and their Pierce-Arrow camper at the Packard Proving Grounds in 1937. She was probably eagerly waiting for winter to be over and warmer weather to arrive so the family could go camping. Roberta’s father, Charles Vincent, was the Proving Grounds manager. His office was in the Repair Garage pictured here next to the car and camper. While the Vincent family was living in the Lodge at the Proving Grounds, they went camping Up North as often as Charles could get time away from his work.
