HARPER WOODS — The Friends of the Harper Woods Library’s first Artisans’ Market was a hit last year, and they’re hoping to make it even bigger this year.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Harper Woods Library, 19601 Harper Ave., and they’re on the hunt for vendors now.

“Last year we had 17 vendors, and (we) hope to have more this year,” Friends of the Library President Mary Kingston said in an email. “We had many inquiries from library patrons, visitors and previous vendors as to when we are planning to have another Artisans’ Market. We are very pleased to host this event again.”

The event allows local artists to show their work at an event that raises money to benefit the library.

Last year, the Friends had hoped to attract 10 vendors, but several more signed up.

Money raised through the event helps the Friends’ efforts to enhance programs and collections at the library.

“I attended last year’s artisans’ market, and it was amazing,” Adult Services Librarian Suzanne Kent said in an email. “It’s a fundraiser for the library, but it is much more because it brings together so many talented people under one roof. For the most part, these people are our own Harper Woods residents, or they live in nearby cities.”

The event is open to artisans who make all kinds of arts and crafts, including jewelry, candles, woodwork, holiday decorations and more.

Table rental for the event costs $20 for a 2-foot-by-6-foot table or $25 for a 3-foot-by-6-foot table.
