ROSEVILLE — An investigation into the death of a 1-year-old girl remained ongoing Dec. 27, a week after the child succumbed to what police initially said was “an unexplained head injury.”

Deputy Chief Mitchell Berlin, of the Roseville Police Department, told the Eastsider that the investigation remained active and that no update was available.

In an initial statement released Dec. 19, Berlin said only “very limited information” would be released while the investigation played out, “due to the tragic circumstances.” The statement confirmed the investigation into the girl’s death after the child was transported to the hospital earlier in December. Detectives were assigned to the case and the statement was released after the child died.

“Once a determination of the cause of death has been made, and the investigation progresses we will release more information,” Berlin said in the statement.
